The Randalls Story

In 1988 Brian Randalls opened one of the first high quality organic retail butcher shops in London - Randalls Butchers. Brian had worked locally in other Fulham butcher shops for many years including AA King on New Kings Road (which is now Bayley and Sage). Specialising in ethically sourced organic & free-range continental cuts, Brian provided the highest quality products to the most exceptional clientele in London (River Café, SKY television, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Nigella, ETC).

Over the years, Brian had many achievements. He participated in the New York Marathon 2004 where he raised over £20,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Brian was also awarded many different certificates such as Best Independent Meat Retailer 2004 and many awards for his outstanding products.

Brian created many marinated products that are still sold in the shop 30 years later. Randalls Butchers was one of the first shops to create marinated products to take the stress of food preparation off the customers. From Indian chicken quarters to herb crusted lamb, Brian made sure life was as easy as possible when it came to feeding friends and family! Also included, the famous “Lamb Triangle burger”, which many celebrity chefs included this outstanding recipe in their books and the ever so popular Wild Boar chop marinated in the shop prepared ginger and garlic teriyaki style sauce.

On the 1st July 2019, Brian decided to retire and sold the business to Roberto Barcellona. Roberto promised to uphold the high standard of work and high quality of products that Brian had delivered to his clientele over his 30 years of owning the business.

Roberto Barcellona was born in 1989 in Turin, the northern part of Italy in a province called Venaria Reale to a generational butcher family. His great-grandparents owned a butcher shop in Sicily over a century ago. His grandparents moved to Turin in 1964 and opened their first butcher shop in Venaria Reale. Roberto’s father Francesco took over the shop with his brother Bernardino in 1987.

It has been 60 years since his grandparents opened the shop, and it has been a family-run business for the entirety of its duration. His family are famous in Turin for their shop-prepared Sicilian sausages - Black pepper and fennel sausages, which you can also find in store at Randalls butchers!

In 2012, during the London Olympics, Roberto moved to London to find work. He soon after found Brian and began to work for him. In 2019, Brian sold his business to Roberto, and ever since Roberto has been the face of Randalls Butchers.

Roberto incorporates his generational butcher skills into his work, but also the Roman & Sicilian culture he was brought up in. His mother Angela is from Rome, and his father from Palermo, Sicily. He sells a wide variety of Italian products - from fresh pastas and deli meats, to sauces and cheese from all over Italy.
